IBYC2008 begins in the afternoon of Thursday 10th July and finishes on the morning of Monday July 14th 2008.

“Daddiri” an Australian Indigenous word means “deep listening”. It is the same invitation that St Benedict offers in the Rule "Listen with the ear of your heart”.

At IBYC we gather, listen to each other’s stories and cultures and enjoy our time together.


WHO COMES…..WHAT HAPPENS at IBYC Sydney 2008

Students, teachers, monks and nuns come from all over the world gather at this International Benedictine Youth Congress (IBYC). It
is an opportunity to make friends with people from other cultures, all united in the Benedictine tradition.

The days of the congress are full of interesting activities with lots of choices to take part in workshops, sport and fun, prayer and
reflection. There will be an excursion to a wildlife park see some of the native animals – koalas, kangaroos – and have a picnic in the Australian bushland.

The days of the congress will be held at the Collaroy Centre, Homestead Avenue, Collaroy Beach, a northern suburb of Sydney.
